To assess the current state and scale of IoT adoption, we surveyed 500 senior decision-makers and implementers of IoT from the UK and the US.
As part of the study, we wanted to find out what organisations are grappling with as they prioritise and accelerate their IoT plans.

The research explores the opportunities, challenges, and trends facing UK and US businesses when it comes to implementing IoT, and in particular the impact of COVID-19 on IoT adoption.
It highlights the criticality of intelligent connectivity in fuelling the adoption of IoT as well as other key technology drivers, both now and in the future.
98% said that COVID-19 has impacted their IoT plans; for 27% it has accelerated development of their IoT initiative and 31% said they had increased investment plans.
89% are planning to increase budget, with under half (44%) planning to boost spending by between 51 and 100% in the next two years.
Top three benefits that IoT projects include entering new markets (35%), increasing profit (34%) and delivering new lines of business (32%).
88% of survey respondents had deployed fewer than 10,000 devices.
35% of respondents indicated that device onboarding, testing and certification, and cellular connecting across multiple countries and regions had proved difficult.
